DR Congo: UCBC Applied Science Fund
The Applied Science Faculty at the Christian Bilingual University of Congo (UCBC) is striving to bring high level engineering formation to eastern DR Congo despite significant challenges. A lack of educational funding and qualified teachers in Congo results in severely understaffed departments. UCBC Applied Science is no exception with only 3 faculty members for 2 four-year degree programs. Furthermore, resources such as textbooks and lab equipment is highly needed to give students opportunities to learn hands-on, practical skills.
This fund will allow for improved educational opportunities in the Applied Science Faculty at UCBC. With your support, UCBC will be able to hire 2 new permanent faculty members allowing us to transition from reliance on visiting teachers to in-house faculty. This transition is essential for the execution of high-level academics in line with UCBC’s vision of cultivating transformative leaders in Congo. Furthermore, the acquisition of textbooks and lab materials will promote the development of research and practical skills at UCBC.
