Sierra Leone: Consortium for Rural Pastors Training

  • July 2021
Hundreds of pastors in rural Sierra Leone lead their churches without adequate training. Often school teachers by vocation, they emerged as church leaders because they could read, write, and speak to groups. But, without Bible training and pastoral skills, their churches flounder, or, worse, are vulnerable to false gospels. Current residential Bible school programs won’t meet this need. So, in a unique collaborative effort, four evangelical Bible schools have identified this training need and have launched a new intensive training program to meet this need. A new curriculum, appropriate to the context is being written, and facilitators will be trained. The goal is to reach 1,000 rural pastors in the next five years by taking needed ministry training to where the need is.
