From the time we came to Christ in the early 1970’s we were both drawn by God to serve as missionaries. At Urbana and Elmbrook Church’s annual missions conferences we responded.

In 1980 we left our work in youth ministry at Elmbrook to begin training for missionary service at Columbia Bible College in SC. While there we learned of an opportunity to join a team reaching out to the Borana, a semi-nomadic largely M and unreached people group in northeastern Kenya. We came to Kenya in Nov. 1984.

We serve on the Pastoral staff of Mamlaka Hill Chapel on the University of Nairobi campus. We also teach at Carlile College, Church Army Africa with the Anglican Church of Kenya. Tim leads the Department of Continuing Education, training Chaplains, and providing theological education for lay church workers. He also teaches in the Missiology and Cross Cultural Missions programs. Jan leads the Diploma in Children and Family MInistry program. At Mamlaka we serve in a number of ministries, teaching discipleship classes at Pathway, and mentoring young leaders. Jan is active in the Children’s Ministry. We also enjoy hosting people in our home.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for health and strength to “finish well” during the remaining years we are privileged to serve in Kenya.
  • Pray that we will be effective in helping to equip Kenyans for missions locally and globally.
  • Pray for a movement of children coming to faith, well grounded in their walk with God, and mobilized to take the gospel to their friends and families. Half of Kenya’s population is under 16.
