Matt & Lisa Befus
We have spent most of our lives in school, first as missionary kids in Costa Rica and Colombia respectively, then as college students and teachers in Illinois, and since 1998, as teachers/administrators at La Palabra de Vida (LPDV) school in Costa Rica.
LPDV seeks to evangelize and disciple preschool through high school students while offering excellent academics. Although roles have varied over the years, our underlying goals have remained: to help LPDV students learn how to develop a relationship with God through the study of His word and His creation, and how to live out that relationship in all areas of life.
We haven’t been bored in years.
Matt trains teachers, teaches biology and oversees the development of the campus. Lisa provides support for curriculum, teachers, and library. Matt and Lisa both serve in advisory roles to LPDV directors and administrative board.
We have four daughters: Lindsey, Lynnea, Katrina, and Natalia.
Prayer Requests:
- Wisdom and unity for the LPDV administrative team.
- That students and staff would grow in spiritual maturity, as described in Col 2:6: receive Christ Jesus as Lord, walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, abounding in thanksgiving.
- For good friendships and direction in transitions for Natalia (elementary), Katrina (high school), Lynnea (college), and Lindsey (post college).
