High School Education Worker

Shelter of Hope and Excellence Foundation (Shelter of Hope) is a registered Tanzanian non-government, non-profit organization. At the heart of Shelter of Hope is Siha Leadership Academy, a private Christian school committed to academic and spiritual excellence. Many of the students are from the rural poor living in the local community. Shelter of Hope partners with a USA-based church and a child sponsorship program.

You will work closely as trusted advisors to the school’s administrators and teachers, enjoying hands-on involvement in many areas of the school. Your primary challenge will be to mentor teachers, leading the transition from a traditional instructor-centered rote learning model to a student-centered model with a focus on the teaching of concepts and learning-for-understanding.

Candidate must have: 1) Degree in Education or related field. 2+ years of teaching experience a plus. Additional experience/training in school administration a plus. 2) Interest in working with local teachers to develop their skills and build their capacity. 3) A love of teaching that instills a love of learning into the students. 4) Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact and work well with teachers, students, administrators and parents.
