Elementary Education Worker

Shelter of Hope and Excellence Foundation (SHEFO) is a registered Tanzanian non-government, non-profit organization. At the heart of SHEFO is Siha Leadership Pre- and Primary School, a private Christian school committed to academic and spiritual excellence. Most of the students are from the rural poor living in the local community. SHEFO’s primary partner is a USA-based non-profit, which includes a child sponsorship program.

You will work closely as trusted advisors to the school’s administrators and teachers, enjoying hands-on involvement in many areas of the school. Your primary challenge will be to mentor teachers, leading the transition from a traditional instructor-centered rote learning model to a student-centered model with a focus on the teaching of concepts and learning-for-understanding.

Candidate must have: 1) Degree in Elementary Education or related field. 2+ years of experience in early childhood education a plus. Additional experience/training in school administration a plus. 2) A passion for working with local teachers to develop their skills and build their capacity. 3) A love of teaching that instills a love of learning into the students.
