Sports and Discipleship Coordinator

The Instituto Panamericano was the first school in Panama, founded by the United States Methodist Church in 1906. It is a bilingual school that has had an impact in the country through men and women who are academically highly qualified and embrace Christian values. It is currently the largest school in Panama with 4,000 students ranging from ages from 4 to 17. We have 350 people on staff in both teaching and administration. The school’s impact extends to the more than 10,000 people, who are parents and relatives of our students. 25% of the school’s students are multiethnic (from Chinese, Indian, and other ethnic groups.)

The sports program at the school has always been a pillar of student life. They wish to better integrate it with faith in Jesus Christ and with the local church. Our goal is to create an intentional way for all the students who participate in sports to know God and relate to Him.

As a sports coordinator, you will create internal tournaments in different sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer, etc.), select the best student athletes to form the teams that will represent the school in intercollegiate tournaments, and develop a program linking sports with a discipleship program.

Requirements include speaking fluent Spanish, having a background in physical education or sports training, experience in the formation of sports teams, theological studies or experience at a Biblical institute, experience working with teenagers, having a teachable spirit, having a willingness to work with the school’s leadership team, embracing teamwork, and accepting challenges and change.
